Scalp Micropigmentation Aftercare

Thank you for trusting us with your Scalp Micropigmentation. Good aftercare protects your results and helps your scalp heal evenly. Here is what we recommend.

First 24–48 hours

  • Keep the scalp completely dry for the first few days: no washing, no swimming and no heavy sweating.
  • Do not touch or scratch the scalp, and avoid hats that rub.
  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase.
  • Mild redness is normal and usually fades within a day or two.

Days 3–10

  • Flaking, light scabbing and itching are normal. Do not pick or scratch.
  • The color may look patchy or lighter for a while as your scalp heal. This is part of the process.
  • Keep the area clean and dry, and apply only the aftercare we gave you, in a very thin layer.
  • Sleep on your back if you can, on a clean pillowcase.
  • Once we say it is fine to wash, use lukewarm water and a gentle shampoo, and pat dry.
  • Wait to shave the scalp until we tell you it is safe, usually after about a week.

What to avoid

  • Picking, peeling, scratching or rubbing the area; let flakes fall off on their own
  • Makeup, creams, serums or sunscreen on the treated area until it has healed
  • Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and heavy sweating for 10 days
  • Direct sun and tanning beds while healing; afterwards, use sunscreen to protect the color
  • Retinol, acids (AHA/BHA) and exfoliating products near the area for at least 2 weeks
  • Facials, peels, laser or other skin treatments on the area until we say it is fine

Your touch-up

  • We usually check your healing at a follow-up visit about 6–8 weeks after your appointment. The final color shows once the skin has fully healed.

When to call us

  • Redness, swelling or tenderness that gets worse after day 3
  • Yellow or green discharge, a bad smell, heat, or spreading redness
  • Fever or feeling unwell
  • Any sign of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, hives or itching that will not settle

Every client heals differently. Please follow the instructions we give you at your appointment, and call or text us at (469) 799-7899 (text) with any questions or concerns.
